ABOUT ME
Name: Mavrick
Age: Twenty-two
Gender: Female
Location: South Australia
Experience: Since 2003
THE CHARACTER
Name: Amalia Arnadóttir Brown
Age: Twenty-four
Gender: Female
Canon or Original: Original
Species: Human
Physical Description: Amalia is a fairly tall woman at 5’11” and is very slim at 120lbs. At 34B-22-30, she is slender with a small waist and hips. She is very leggy, and although she does not have a considerable bust, with the right outfit and bra, she can pull off a woman’s favourite illusion. She has the dark blonde hair and light blue eyes of her Nordic ancestors, and since losing her childhood weight, she has become almost obsessed with staying in shape, and has appropriate muscle tone from running and daily workouts.
Personality Description: Amalia is a girl torn between doing things she wants to do, and doing things her father thinks she should do. Having avoided all things considered bad, drinking, drugs, parties and sex during her teenage years, she took the vampires coming out as a strange sign that maybe her daddy wasn’t right about everything after all. Because he always said that such things weren’t real, if he was wrong about that then who knows what else he’s wrong about.
Amalia loves her mother dearly, and misses her daily. She wishes she was still around to guide her. She wonders if her mother had stuck around, whether she’d be the woman she is today. Dry, often sarcastic with an endless supply of devastating wit, Amalia is considered quiet by those who don’t know her, and a sarcastic wonder to those who do. She has never flaunted her good looks and physique, plays down her European ancestry, and likes to drink alone in bars where no one knows her so she doesn’t have to pretend to be excited, or put up with Josie. She often still feels like the ugly duckling, and while she has had several relationships, she tends to go for the useless flings so her flaws don’t show.
Amalia finds vampires fascinating. With all the stories going around, she is more than a little curious as to how they live out their lives, and with the stories Josie tells, she has often wondered whether she should take the plunge into the Fangbanger pool. So far fear has kept her at bay, but curiosity may get the best of her.
Personal History: Amalia’s father met her mother in Iceland while backpacking through Europe. The two decided to travel together and Arna eventually returned to Louisiana with him a few months later. Already pregnant with Amalia by the time they returned, the two quickly married and settled into a comfortable home. What she didn’t tell her new husband however, was that she was pregnant when she met him, and Amalia was not his child. Michael continued college, working late nights to help support his new family. Their lives continued uneventfully until Amalia was five, at which time her mother decided it was time for her to move on. Of course she decided this without consulting her family, and Michael woke one morning to find all her things gone, except their daughter.
The young girl did not understand why her mother left, and she spent days waiting up at night for her to come home. After realising some years later that she really wasn’t coming back, Amalia went through a period of resentment, both for her leaving, and for her mother leaving her behind with her father, who had become very strict. These days, Amalia doesn’t resent her mother for leaving, she understands. If she had been in her shoes, with her father the way he was, she would have left too… and wishes she had the courage her mother did.
Michael took raising Amalia very seriously, and he was a strict Christian father, which Amalia resented him for. During high school she was to be home by five, and not allowed out late or to go on dates. Amalia never rebelled however, and took a job as a barista at a local coffee shop after graduation. She was ready to go off to college, having saved up enough and decided on pursuing a career as an English teacher (at the fierce insistence of her father), when the Vampires ‘came out of the coffin’. For some reason this event had a profound effect on her. Her father had always said that there were no such thing, and he had been so wrong. Suddenly she wondered if her father had been wrong about everything.
When she told her dad about waiting once again on going to college he was furious. She had spent too many years doing nothing and he wanted to see her succeed. He wanted her to have a career, he wanted her to be what he thought was best. An argument ensued with Amalia screaming about her dreams and wishes, the fact that she was content in her current life, the fact that he had been wrong about vampires and therefore could be wrong about other things too. He preached the bible to her, called them abominations and told her that she had been raised better. Amalia, still uncertain, told her father he was just going to have to wait a while to see if she still wanted to go to college, knowing in her heart then and there that she didn’t.
Family: MOTHER: Arna Gíslidóttir
FATHER: Michael Brown
Skills: Amalia is an experienced barista and makes a mean coffee. Other than that, she would preach she is not particularly good at anything.
Hobbies: Amalia is a little obsessed with working out and takes a run most mornings. She has a small, but close group of friends from work that she spends time with fairly often, then she has Josie, who she tends to see infrequently, but they party hard when they get together. It’s become a habit, and Amalia gets bored if she doesn’t go out on a weekend.
Likes: Amalia loves clothes, and has a wardrobe full of clothes bought with money that probably needed to be used elsewhere. She only ever drinks rum, and has developed a taste for one night stands.
Dislikes: Amalia hates beer, it makes her want to vomit. She doesn’t like being teased, and she feels uncomfortable when men compliment her. She also hates her father’s old car which she is forced to use, which constantly breaks down.
Face Claim: Kristanna Loken
Other: Despite her Icelandic mother, Amalia has a good old Louisianan accent.
