You're a simple citizen wanting your own Lanista (Gladiator training facility). You don't have much now, but your dreams. You know that one day you'll have enough to acquire your own home, a gladiator, and then your own name in fame by having the best Gladiators. And the money. Women (or men) will flock to you. Wine will be in abundance. Everyone will cheer your name, your house.

You want more money. You want to rule the city. Be Magistrate and control all. You want the citizens to tremble at your approach knowing that you can change their fate on a whim. You own all. You just have to get there. But get there you will.

Perhaps you don't want to change your station. Maybe you were born as a slave, gladiator, or Roman Citizen and you're happy where you are. You enjoy your life. You enjoy your duties. You know that you are needed and that is enough for you.
